BACKGROUND

Chainsaw operator, along with other units in one whole management, is one of the company frontiers to succeed a business. Right and proper knowledge, skill and work attitude from a chainsaw operator accompanied by good certification becomes important rule that cannot be ignored to achieve the desired targets. Thus, capacity building for chainsaw operator through in-house training of operator certification is needed, to cumulatively with other components increase the company performance.

This training is designed not only theoretically but also practical so that the material given can be applied directly by the trainees. They get not only material in class, but also apply it directly in the field, which is forest or plantation.

 

FORM & METHOD OF ACTIVITY

The training is held in-house with the duration of four days (32 effective meeting hours). Besides class presentation, the trainees are also asked to join the practical learning of cutting the tree directly in the field.

 

OBJECTIVE OF ACTIVITY

After following this training, the trainees are hoped to understand and execute safety rules, usage of chainsaw, and cutting procedure and trunk division according to effecient and right technique and standard.

After following the training, the trainees will be able to:

1. Understanding safety rules and work safety especially regarding the usage of chainsaw
2. Preparing usage and maintenance of chainsaw according to present standard
3. Cutting trees rightly and safely
4. Cutting trees accurately according to the standard using efficient and safe technique
5. Conducting first aid according to safety of chainsaw operator.

 

METHOD OF TRAINING

The training is delivered in mature learning method (andragogy) through several delivery models: face to face in class, discussion with question and answer, and in the field and/or simulation.

 

TOOLS AND MATERIAL TRAINING

1. For trainees: Training kit, hand out, etc.
2. For the classroom: LCD projector, laptop, flipchart, plano paper, whiteboard, boardmarker, eraser, etc.
3. For field practice: area for tree cutting and division, tree, chainsaw and its equipment, safety gear for chainsaw operator (safety shoes, vest, helm, gloves), camera, load speaker, etc.

 

TARGET OF THE TRAINING

Trainees who are hoped to participate in this training program are employees that in their job using chainsaw.

1. Trainee requirement :

• Has basic knowledge in operating chainsaw
• Has health certificate from hospital
• Never participate in similar training
